about

I have been very fortunate to have some wonderful teachers come into my life thanks to my kids and my music. It has been so rewarding to share my songs with so many school classes over the past 8 months.

This past Fall, I had the opportunity to play an outdoor concert for my daughter's class. As I thought ahead to the show, and the location I would be playing in, I was imagining what it would be like - to be outside on a sunny day (with an actual audience again!), playing my music for the class under a big, blue sky.

The very first line I wrote was, "The sky is so big, it can make you feel small"... But then I thought about the wonders of looking up at the sky.

Even as an adult the sky can make any of us feel small. I wanted kids to know they weren't alone in their wonderment and decided to include myself in the song by changing the line to "makes me feel small".

It's great to stop and smell the roses sometimes, but it's equally important to slow down and look up too, and just marvel at the beauty of a Big Sky...

lyrics

Lyrics:

The sky is so big
It can make me feel small
But I’m growing up yeah
I’m getting tall
Maybe one day
I’ll fly up through those clouds
In a big old jet airplane
That is nice and loud

Big sky
Big sky
Big sky
Big sky

Somedays the clouds are so low
Seems like they’re touching the trees
Sometimes when it’s foggy
Clouds are bumping into me
Using my imagination
Look at that cloud over there
I can see a crocodile
With funny hair

Big sky
Big sky
Big sky
Big sky

If the clouds go to bed
Any time after dark
The stars shine so bright
Like thousands of sparks
The sky is so big
It can make me feel small
But I’m growing up yeah
I’m getting tall

Big sky
Big sky
Big sky
Big sky
Big sky
Big sky
Big sky
Big sky
