about

A few different versions of this song were written before the final one you hear today came to be.

It started with Alex asking me to write a song while waiting for the bus about owls on a branch watching the moon go down in the morning.

Sure! That'll be easy right? ;)

While the lyrics were reworked several times, which is rare for me (I tinker with lyrics but rarely completely rewrite a song), the theme remained the same.

For me, the little owl in the song represents growing up. The moon setting in the morning sky represents how time passes.

As our kids grow up, they face new challenges and they want to try new things. Time marches on right? And our little kids become big kids.

Some of life's challenges are not always fun, but I have found that our attitude towards these challenges can really dictate the outcomes. If we do our best, try to be patient and kind with each other, we'll find our comfort zone, our branch to sit on.

As one friend said when she heard a preview of this song, "Some adults could use this reminder too." ;)

lyrics

Lyrics:

Little owl looking for your branch
Morning moon setting in the West
Hard to believe how much time has passed
Little owl sitting on your branch

Time flies when we’re having fun
Not so much when there’s things to be done
Try to be patient
Try to be kind
All things come when it’s time for their time
All things come when it’s time for their time

Three hundred sixty-five days in a year
Try to greet each one with a smile and a cheer
Time can spring forward
Time can even fall back
Little owl sitting on your branch

Time flies when we’re having fun
Not so much when there’s work to be done
Try to be patient
Try to be kind
All things come when it’s time for their time
All things come when it’s time for their time

Time flies when we’re having fun
Not so much when there’s things to be done
Try to be patient
Try to be kind
All things come when it’s time for their time
All things come when it’s time for their time
Little owl searching for your branch
