Man Sitting in a Tree

from Free Range Muffins by Andrew Rodger

about

One of my oldest songs, Man Sitting in a Tree dates back to the summer of 1994. It was rarely (if ever) played live at the time, as I moved to North Vancouver shortly after it was written and new songs emerged from my new experiences on the West Coast.

Finally seeing the light of day all these years later, Man Sitting in a Tree quickly became a favourite this past year during my online shows - it's high-energy tempo is a great way to kick-off a show... or an album!

lyrics

It’s been dark but now I see
Why the light of the moon won’t shine on me
Somethings just aren’t meant to be
I’ll just sit and look at time
Some days go by just fine
And some days are just some days
I guess they’ll never come
No they’ll never come

Beck’s talking nightmares on my radio
Poetry in the night
And if the world
Doesn’t end tomorrow
Then I will be alright
Yeah

She has a quiet beauty
She speaks in gentle tones
Life goes on I must move on
Even unwillingly
Somethings aren’t meant to be
Like the attack of the killer bees
Like a man sitting in a tree
Like you and me
Like you and me

Beck’s talking nightmares on my radio
Poetry in the night
And if the world
Doesn’t end tomorrow
Then I will be alright
Yeah

I’m moving on
As best I can
But I am a man
Sitting in a tree
Goodnight my sweet one
I’m moving on I’m moving on
Goodbye my sweet one
I’m moving on to sing my songs

Beck’s talking nightmares on my radio
Poetry in the night
And if the world
Doesn’t end tomorrow
Then I will be alright
Said if the world
Won’t end tomorrow
Then we will be alright
Yeah
